Challenges:

Working within an existing operating supermarket. Areas were fenced off in four stages, with temporary bridging across excavated trenches. The first stage was during the Christmas period, when the supermarket is extremely busy.

The timing was also during the Covid pandemic, so there was a lockdown, as well as social distancing and additional H&S precautions once work re-commenced.

Success:

Completing two months early, to budget, and to a high standard. There was minimal re-work for all trades.

Proportion of Resources:

Robinson Construction delivered the Overall Project Management, and the traditional Concrete, Carpentry and Finishing trades.

Using subcontractors for Structural Steel, Precast, Electrical, Hydraulic, and Painting.

Key Personnel:

Nick Robinson (Project Manager)

Glyn Hughes (Site Manager)

Gareth Shawcross (QS)

How Key Personnel Supported Success:

2-weekly meetings with Foodstuffs South Island project manager, and as needed with the wider consultant team ensured a very smooth project.
