Blenheim Airport Control Tower

No mid-air collisions...need we say more!  Seriously though, some of Marlborough's most challenging precast concrete work went into this project.  The entire upper floor of the control tower was made in two precast halves, assembled and checked, then pulled apart and craned into place.

Dates: 2004
Project Designer: Abacus Design
Type of Building: Industrial
Size of Building: 160m2
Building Detail: Four storey, tilt panel construction with suspended concrete floors.
Challenges: The top floor was made in two peices due to weight issues, and each piece was lifted into place using two cranes simultaneously.
